Thanks for visiting my page!
After running a 24-hour, 200-mile relay run from Calistoga to Santa Cruz in May, the runner’s high coupled with some marathon-experienced teammates inspired me to try the next step: to run my first full marathon!
On October 10 I will run the Chicago Marathon as part of “Team Bear” and the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation. I have lost three classmates and a close family friend to the disease, and it is in their honor and memory that I will run.
The statistics for cancer are startling: every school day, 46 children or 2 classrooms full of kids will be diagnosed with cancer.
The Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation was founded in honor of Barrett 'Bear' Krupa, a Wilm's Tumor patient who eventually succumbed to the disease. It is a national organization whose mission is to eliminate pediatric cancer as well as to provide hope and support for the families who are touched by it.
Today, your donation funds things like family support programs, bone marrow donor programs, programs to enrich in-patient quality of life, and funding the continued search for a cure to the disease.
