Taking Steps to fund research, raise awareness, be heard, and change lives
Crohns, a form of IBD, has had a signficant effect on Michael's and my life, especially over the past year. Besides two hospitalizations, we also have learned to locate every bathroom in the immediate vicinty, pack emergency supplies, and now function with an ileostomy. Michael and I have become pros at changing my ileostomy appliance; we're ready to enter into a competition. But, until wafer changes become an olympic sport, we're settling for participating in the May 17th IBD walk in Hampton, VA. As I'm still recovering from my total colectomy and experiencing arthritis flare-ups, it should be enough of a challenge. Prior to my diagnosis, we didn't know much about IBD; it was quite the learning curve for us. We're hoping that in participating in this Take Steps walk that we can help fund further education and research for the general public and for those suffering from the disease.

To donate please find the “Make a contribution” box on this page, if this box is not visible please select a fundraiser next to "View Team Fundraising Pages".

Take Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis is the nation’s largest event dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases. Not only am I participating in this event, but I am raising money for crucial research that wouldn’t even have been possible a few short years ago.

More than 1.4 million patients across the country suffer from these painful and unpredictable diseases. Beyond raising money for research, Take Steps brings together the community in a fun and energetic atmosphere. Participants are encouraged to make noise and be heard -- raising awareness of these little-known diseases in their community and across the nation.

Please support my efforts by making a tax-deductible contribution to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. With your help, we will fund important research and raise awareness of diseases that afflict millions of people.

Moon-faced Tosha (thanks steroids!) ready for surgery. Say good-bye to her colon and her hair!
