Brent Hinson and Friends Walk for CCFA
After being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2000, I've decided to funnel my energy into spreading awareness and raising funds for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. I became inspired to take the initiative after finding out Mike McCready, guitarist for Pearl Jam, suffers from Crohn’s disease and has been an outspoken advocate for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation for several years.
In 2005, I helped organize pre-show fundraisers before several Pearl Jam shows throughout Canada. With help from a lot of great fans and volunteers, we raised over $20,000 for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada.
In 2006, we decided to set our goals higher during Pearl Jam's North American Tour. Again, with help from great fans and volunteers, we surpassed our goal of $30,000 and raised awareness across the country.
I've also created a video documenting my journey through this disease.
Now, I've decided to set my sights locally. I want to raise awareness in my community. With your help, I hope to garner support and inform rural areas about Crohn's Disease. I intend to walk on the Fitness Trail located on the University of Tennessee-Martin Campus, Saturday, May 3rd from 1PM until 3PM.
While my goal is $500, I certainly appreciate anything you wish to donate.

To donate please find the “Make a contribution” box on this page, if this box is not visible please select a fundraiser next to "View Team Fundraising Pages". Take Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis is the nation’s largest event dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases. Not only am I participating in this event, but I am raising money for crucial research that wouldn’t even have been possible a few short years ago.
More than 1.4 million patients across the country suffer from these painful and unpredictable diseases. Beyond raising money for research, Take Steps brings together the community in a fun and energetic atmosphere. Participants are encouraged to make noise and be heard -- raising awareness of these little-known diseases in their community and across the nation.
Please support my efforts by making a tax-deductible contribution to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. With your help, we will fund important research and raise awareness of diseases that afflict millions of people. |
