Hi everybody! If you know me, you most likely know that I have Crohn's Disease. It's not something I hide and though it is not who I am, it does affect how I live my life. I deal with my disease on a daily basis. It's not something I can ever forget.
This year, I am taking part in the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation's Take Steps, a walk to cure Crohn's and colitis. These diseases affect millions of people and can be debilitating. Aside from having local effects in the intestinal tract, Crohn's Disease and Colitis (collectively Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD) can have some pretty nasty systemic effects as well, such as fatigue, weakness, arthritis, kidney and liver disorders, inflammation of the eyes and skin conditions. Oftentimes, surgery is required in patients with severe cases. There is at present no known cure for IBD. Treatments exist but not all are successful for all patients and many carry some pretty serious and scary side effects.
I am walking in Take Steps because I want a cure for my disease. I want to raise awareness of IBD and the need for research funding. I am walking because I want to fight back against Crohn's Disease. I am a patient but not a victim. All donations, no matter how small, are very appreciated! Thanks! |

To donate please find the “Make a contribution” box on this page, if this box is not visible please select a fundraiser next to "View Team Fundraising Pages". Take Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis is the nation’s largest event dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases. Not only am I participating in this event, but I am raising money for crucial research that wouldn’t even have been possible a few short years ago.
More than 1.4 million patients across the country suffer from these painful and unpredictable diseases. Beyond raising money for research, Take Steps brings together the community in a fun and energetic atmosphere. Participants are encouraged to make noise and be heard -- raising awareness of these little-known diseases in their community and across the nation.
Please support my efforts by making a tax-deductible contribution to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. With your help, we will fund important research and raise awareness of diseases that afflict millions of people. |
