| Hello, my name is Lucinda Gold and I have Crohn's Disease.
I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at the age of 11. I was bleeding, losing weight, terribly weakened, in constant pain and had to stop going to school. I missed 7th through 9th grade because I was too sick to go to school. I took dozens of medications and at one point 28 pills a day, but nothing worked and many of the medications caused extreme symptoms such as gaining 50% extra body weight and damaging my immune system. After realizing that medications do not work for me I had my colon removed over the course of 3 surgeries totaling 19 hours. Even though my colon is gone I still live in fear that any day my Crohn's can return and I will have no medications to save me.
Please support the efforts of CCFA to find a cure and let me rest easy at night. |

To donate please find the “Make a contribution” box on this page, if this box is not visible please select a fundraiser next to "View Team Fundraising Pages". Take Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis is the nation’s largest event dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases. Not only am I participating in this event, but I am raising money for crucial research that wouldn’t even have been possible a few short years ago.
More than 1.4 million patients across the country suffer from these painful and unpredictable diseases. Beyond raising money for research, Take Steps brings together the community in a fun and energetic atmosphere. Participants are encouraged to make noise and be heard -- raising awareness of these little-known diseases in their community and across the nation.
Please support my efforts by making a tax-deductible contribution to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. With your help, we will fund important research and raise awareness of diseases that afflict millions of people. |
