| Sudan Challenge 2009 |
|
| Through micro-financing and business training, we can help families in the poorest parts of the world start businesses -- family businesses that will provide sustainable income. With a hand up, instead of a hand out, these families become self-supporting and contribute to the stability of their communities. The result? The poverty cycle is broken -- one family at a time.
For as little as $150, an enterprising woman, man, or family can start a small business: a produce stand, a tailor shop, roadside food stand, a poultry business, or a grinding mill. These businesses, as they grow, provide sustainable income for the family...to the point that they are able to feed themselves and break their dependence on humanitarian aid.
In Southern Sudan, gba will be launching a new micro-financing program in 2009. In this area where no micro-financing has been available, Sudanese families who have borne a generation of civil war, will, for the first time, have the opportunity to experience the benefits of Enterprise Relief. |
