| Hello, my name is Michael Salyer and I run marathons. I’m not a fast runner (as a matter of fact, “slow” would be fairly accurate) so I’ll never be on the podium, but I do love to run. This season I’ll be attempting six full marathons. In doing so, I hope to bring attention to the mission of Snowdrop Foundation.
Snowdrop Foundation is dedicated to assisting patients and families at Texas Children’s Cancer Center through funding for continued research to eliminate childhood cancer and scholarships for college bound pediatric cancer patients and survivors.
Snowdrop Foundation was born out of a friendship forged by local radio DJ Kevin Kline and a girl named Chelsea. Kevin was inspired by her and her fight with cancer and vowed to run a marathon in her honor. That marathon has led to many more marathons, ultra marathons and hundreds of miles run by Kevin and those he has inspired. Kevin and his wife Trish have humbly gone about raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer research and scholarships. I am honored to assist them in this endeavor.
I realize “for the children” has almost become a cliché in our society, but this truly is a worthy cause; to help, treat and cure the most vulnerable of us.
