I am involved in this fundraiser because my buddy Jon Rouverol died from multiple myeloma at age 44, leaving my friend Eve a widow and his two little kids fatherless. Research on blood cancers is the stepping stone for finding cures to other cancers, like breast and brain cancers which have intruded into the lives of some of the people I have loved the most in this world. I think about all the Del Dayo (school) moms who’ve been hit with breast cancer, like my best friend Rozaida O’Neill. So you see, I just had to take up this fight. Maybe if I’d done this 10 years ago, we’d have a cure now.
