SOS Outreach was founded on December 21, 1993, in Colorado’s Vail Valley. As a nonprofit organization, our programs build character and self-esteem in youth through outdoor activities and the SOS curriculum. SOS is on pace to serve more than 5,000 youth across the nation in 2008-2009.
SOS Outreach recently finalized a merger with Meet the Wilderness, an outdoor adventure organization, which has provided summer wilderness programming for youth since 1974.
In winter months, SOS students learn to ski and snowboard, and in warmer months our adult mentors will take students rock climbing, backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each SOS program integrates the five core values of our organization: Courage, Discipline, Integrity, Wisdom and Compassion. Our curriculum includes consistent adult mentors, community service opportunities, and the adult mentor relationships that are central to our programs.Since 1993, the SOS Outreach, a grassroots charity, has introduced over 12,000 kids to winter sports. We use our passion for the outdoors to serve kids. Each SOS program focuses on 5 core values: Courage, Discipline, Integrity, Wisdom, and Compassion.
