| Skin Cancer has reached epidemic proportions according to the Center for Disease Control Chances are, you have friends and family members that have been touched by some form of skin cancer - one in five Americans will develop skin cancer.
While all other cancer rates are declining, skin cancer rates continue to rise. Now is the time to focus on how we can change that. SHADE Foundation of America programs directly affect change. Tangible effects such as shade structures at schools to prevent sunburns of school childre; skin cancer screenings and an innovative new skin cancer self exam video for early detection and treatment, and providing hundreds of thousands of free sunscreen samples from Blue Lizard Australian Suncream are just a few ways SHADE is working to reduce skin cancer rates.
Behavioral changes in children are a key to fighting skin cancer. The nationwide SunWise with SHADE Poster Contest will put sun safety tools into 20,000 schools this year. As you know, starting sun safety habits young will translate into sun safe adults!
It is important that everyone plays a role in fighting skin cancer. Please donate to our Boston Marathon campaign. Shonda Schilling and fourteen runners from across the country will be giving their all to fight skin cancer by running 26.2 miles on April 16, 2007. Each mile they run - every dollar raised brings us closer to saving lives. |
