Goal

The Marine Corps League, Marine Corps Aviation Association and local Marines request your support for the 28th Annual 5K Charity Run/Walk. Started in 1983, the original charity race was organized with the goal of helping families of the 241 American service members killed in the bombing attack on the Marine barracks in Beirut. Today, the purpose of the race is to give back to the Pensacola community that so willingly supports Marine training. All proceeds go directly to local outreach programs: • New Horizons of Northwest Florida – Serves the developmentally and physically challenged in our community through habilitation training and numerous personalized therapy programs. • Escambia Westgate School – Provides a revolutionary nurturing and sensory environment to best educate disabled and autistic youth pre-k through 12th grade. • The Miracle League – Operates local baseball leagues and fields for challenged youths. • Gulf Coast Kids House – Facilitates the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse and promotes child abuse prevention awareness through community education. • Boys & Girls Club of Escambia – Strives to enhance the lives of disadvantaged young people through safe, productive after school programs and summer day camps. • Independence Fund – Provides wounded veterans with the necessary tools that will allow them to lead a more independent life. Please visit our website at www.sepmerficharityrun.org to support the race via registering to run or donating to the cause. This year’s run will be held September 18th starting from Seville Quarter at 8:00 am. Prizes for top runners in each age bracket. Register for the race today until Sept 1 and receive a coveted 28th Annual Semper Fi 5K T-shirt.
