| The Tigard-Tualatin School District (TTSD) owns and operates both the Tigard and Tualatin swim centers. With the current budget deficit, TTSD can no longer afford to operate the pools. Unless alternative funding is found, both swim centers will be permanently closed.
The Committee to Save Tigard-Tualatin Pools has stepped forward to preserve these valuable community resources, while also relieving the school district of a large, on going budget expense. Our goal is to develop an aquatic district and limited tax levy that will provide permanent, stable funding to keep both pools open for the community to enjoy for years to come.
In addition to generate funds for the aquatic district campaign the fund raising committee is dedicated to trying to raise additional funds to help bridge the interim cost of running the pool, the school has slated to mothball in September, through April of 2010. This will allow the current programs offered to the community by the pools to be maintained during both the Fall and Winter High School Sports season, a time where usage by the High Schools is at its highest. |
