Today's modern Salvation Army holds to its founding principle that loving God means loving your neighbor in very practical ways. It is faith put into action, Christianity with its sleeves rolled up. Social service simply means making life better for others.

Help is given freely each year to thousands of people in Delta County without regard to race, gender, culture or religion. For The Salvation Army believes that only in meeting the basic needs of people will they be able to live on a higher plain, reach their full potential, contribute effectively to society and cultivate their souls.

The kinds of assistance The Salvation Army provides in each community are based on local needs and resources. At this time, our community needs your help to provide critical transitional shelter and counseling assistance that government funding will not cover and local agencies cannot afford.

In community there is an inherent connectedness. One person's life touches another. Like in a pond, the actions we take toward one another ripple outward, affecting families and communities, influencing our future.

We hope to see The Salvation Army Home Run become the centerpiece of a local youth and family fitness movement, creating opportunity for more of us to become “active” event participants versus passive spectators.
