| The mission of Women In Distress is to make Broward County SAFE- Stop Abuse For Everyone. WID provides victims of domestic violence with a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, counseling, information and referral services, advocacy, support group, and respite child care. One out of 4 women has a personal experience with domestic violence, and 61% of female homicide victims are wives or intimate acquaintances of their killers. Domestic violence is a serious problem that affects everyone.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. On October 6, 2007 at 7:30 AM, WID will hold its 9th Annual 5K SAFEWALK-RUN, an event that provides a fun opportunity to make a significant difference in our community.
Every donation is greatly appreciated and helps make our community a safer place for everyone. Each $100 raised can fund 2 hours of group counseling. $1,000 can provide 18 days of safety, counseling, food and clothing to battered women and their children in our shelters.
Support our 5K SAFE Walk-Run and take a step to end domestic violence.
