| Safe Passage's Esperanza 5K |

| “Esperanza” is the Spanish word for “hope,” and in September 2010, communities around the world will run and walk together in friendship, hope, and solidarity to support the children and families of Safe Passage. The 5K events held in 15-20 locations across North America, Guatemala, and Europe will give thousands of people the chance to collectively honor Safe Passage’s late founder, Hanley Denning, and her vision of helping families build better lives for themselves beyond the garbage dump. Together, we will celebrate the enormous impact one person can make and how many lives can thereby be changed for the better. The children in Guatemala City will be running as well, taking a physically and symbolically active role in striving toward a brighter, healthier future.
