| The Radford University Physics Program provides unique opportunities and activities for its majors. The Physics Faculty and Alumni Scholarship will serve to encourage students who excel both in research and in their coursework.
Research in physics probes the structure and dynamics of the physical world -- whether on the arctic sea ice in Alaska or in deep space at Selu Observatory. Unlike many schools that emphasize graduate research only, RU students often start work on these projects as soon as they start their undergraduate careers.
The close-knit nature of the faculty and students, as well as the small class sizes and availability of the faculty allow direct interaction between student and professor. Students are encouraged to ask questions, meet with faculty outside of the classroom, and think creatively about physics. These opportunities and the rigorous curriculum has allowed many of our students to obtain excellent employment immediately after graduation, while others have been accepted to premiere graduate research universities across the country.
Please make a gift to the Physics Faculty and Alumni Scholarship. Your support will impact deserving physics majors by assisting them with their financial needs. All gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law.
Awardees of the scholarship must be current physics majors with a 3.0 GPA or incoming physics majors with a 3.0 GPA. Recipients for the scholarship will be chosen by the RU Physics faculty and two alumni. More than one scholarship may be awarded each year.
