| Welcome to the first annual RUN WALK BARK 5K Race /1K Pet Walk / Fun & Games fundraiser to be held on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Brook Run Park in Sandy Springs, from 7:00am to 12:00pm. The Run Walk Bark will be a family focused and pet friendly event to benefit The Bridge’s Animal Assisted Therapy Program. At The Bridge, animals play a critical role in helping youth, who have experienced severe physical and sexual abuse, cope with the daily stresses associated with their pasts. Animal Assisted Therapy is a year-round program utilizing dogs as therapeutic intervention for Bridge residents and has become a tool for youth to regain their sense of security, peace, and trust, not only with their peers, but with adults as well. The animals help them learn coping skills, responsibility, to control impulses, and even personal hygiene.
Registration for the 5K Race, the 1K Pet Walk, the 100 Yard Dash Tot Trot or enjoying fun and games can be done here. We encourage you to build a page for your friends and teammates to help raise money!
We anticipate 500 participants in this first annual event to benefit The Bridge, a 40-year old residence, school and therapy center for youth and families.
Come and RUN, WALK OR BARK with us to help teenagers in Atlanta, or make a donation to The Bridge! |
