| Help Me Support the Homewood Police Foundation |
|
| In 2007 I ran my first marathon. And as much as a challenge as it was, I realized it hardly compared with the challenges our police officers face every day in the line of duty. Over the last two years, I've had the honor of meeting several Homewood Police Officers, both in an official capacity and personally; getting to know them as individuals and seeing the hearts they have for what they do. What started as casual conversations over coffee or at community events has grown into a deep appreciation and respect for who they are and what they have dedicated their lives to doing for each of us. This is what inspired the creation of the Homewood Police Foundation, an organization designed to support our officers and the work they do in the community; from helping fund programs such as D.A.R.E. and National Night Out, to supporting officer training and the benevolence fund. So I am combining my passion for running and the police department with my "Running FOR the Cops" campaign; raising money and awareness as I train and run races in the future. You can help by sponsoring me, whether you want to make a single donation or donate $x per mile I run (races only). You can e-mail me directly to receive a list of races I will be participating in if you would like to choose one and donate per mile or sponsor me in a specific race. Or check out my blog at www.xanga.com/Evajane for updates and stories. Every dollar you give goes to the Homewood Police Foundation, a 501 C 3 organization, so it's tax deductible. But what these officers do every day... well, that's priceless.
