| This group came about when my son suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in March 2007. While sitting in the hospital for 5 ½ months I realized that there was a great need for families and caregivers to come together and be able express their concerns, find out they are not alone and be able to share resources that can benefit their loved one. I had started a small group in the hospital while my son was there and found that the rewards were great for all. So I got busy organizing a support group for the Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens area. With the wonderful support from The Brain Injury Alliance of South Carolina (BIASC) our group was formed.
Our group has many different activities for all. Just to name a few, picnics, movies, resource meetings, speakers for the TBI and the caregivers, discussions on how to cope and live with TBI, workshops, community awareness and more. We welcome all to come and share in making life better with TBI.
The Brain Injury Alliance of SC is a wonderful resource for information, leadership, events that are offered in the area, legislation changes and much more. Please join us in showing your support for the BIASC in their 2nd annual Run For Thought 2009. A portion of the funds we raise goes directly back to our support group which can help us fund the aforementioned activities. So, please be generous!!
The group meetings are held in the DDSN building located @ 214 McGee Rd. in Anderson, on the second Monday of each month from 6:00PM – 7:30PM. For more information you can call Liz Wilis at 864-375-0996.
