I'm training for the Gobi March desert race raising funds for drug and alcohol treatment scholarships-will you make a donation today?
Distance running is something that I started doing over five years ago as a way to challenge my body mentally and physically. Since then I've ran a few marathons, over seven half marathons, and numerous 5 and 10Ks. In July of last year when this opportunity was put in front of me, a 6 stage 250 kilometer (155 miles!) endurance event through the desert, it seemed impossible yet exciting all at the same time. So I joined the Run7on7 team!
Since July I have been training rigorously with the assistance of my running coach, my nutritionist, my massage therapist, and tons of support from family and friends.
By joining the "Team", I have agreed to raise funds for Run7on7, which will provide scholarships for drug and alcohol treatment to those who otherwise might not be able to afford it. Of all the marathons and half-marathons I have done in my life the Gobi March is the first I will be running while in support of a cause. I have a very close loved one who for years struggled with the disease of drug and alcohol addiction. After attending Caron I am happy to say she has been in recovery now for six years. I am competing in this event in honor of all those individuals who ever have, or ever will be battling the disease of addiction, for their families, and for the hope that they can recover, one day at a time.
Help me make a difference! I won't ask you to get out there and run with me (at least not this time) but I do ask that you make a donation today to help me reach my goal! |
