| In 2002 my mother, Susan Willbanks, was diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, already in stage 2. She is managing the disease well and hopefully it will be years or decades before she needs a transplant. While this will be my 4th Chicago Marathon, this is the first time I have run with anything other than fun and fitness in mind. Raising funds for liver disease research and raising awareness of her disease is making the training this time around much more meaningful. Here's hoping our combined efforts will lead to an end to PBC! |
