Join Us. Save Lives. Run/Walk/Pledge for Donor Awareness! The Red Shoe Run for Donor Awareness is held every April to celebrate National Donate Life Month, increase donations of organs, tissue, eye, blood and marrow and raise funds. Money raised at the Red Shoe Run for Donor Awareness pays for tissue typing for those wishing to join the Be The Match Registry with the Rock River Valley Blood Center. It costs approximately $100 to add each new member to the Be The Match Registry. Your contibutions help us increase the number of committed donors, assuring a match is available for all patients whose lives depend on a marrow cell transplant. Since the Red Shoe Run for Donor Awarenesss started, we have nearly tripled our database of committed donors, resulting in more matches and a 500% increase in marrow cell collections and transplants yet still only 4 of every 10 patients in need will receive their lifesaving transplant. These patients depend on you, every dollar pledged brings us closer to our goal of ensuring that every patient in need finds their lifesaving match. We need your help.
