| RED LODGE FUN RUN FOR CHARITIES AWARDS GRANTS
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the Red Lodge Fun Run for Charities fourth annual event, held September 1, 2007 in Red Lodge. Due to your participation and financial help a record $176,357 in grants were awarded to 34 Red Lodge area nonprofit organizations on October 10th, at the annual Fun Run Grant Awards Evening held at Bridge Creek Restaurant in Red Lodge, Mt. Each year the generosity of many has continued to enrich our communities by supporting the important causes and goals of numerous nonprofit organizations. An unprecedented six organizations received double figure grant amounts at the awards ceremony, with Hope Ranch of Montana topping the list at $30.200.90. A complete list of the participating charities and money granted to each follows below. The amount of money raised this year was a substantial increase over 2006, with a total of $176,357 - comparing to the 2006 total of $118,489.
In an article from the Carbon County News, dated October 18th, Amanda Desarro of Hope Ranch was quoted as saying the award was a "phenomenal blessing" and she and her husband, Matthew, were "tremendously thankful." She expounded on the role of Hope Ranch in mentoring at-risk children and expressed excitement over the working relationship between Hope Ranch of Montana and the Boys and Girls Club of Red Lodge.
The Fun Run is initiated and administered by the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation (RLACF) at www.RedLodgeAreaCommunityFoundation.org. All the work of the Fun Run is a labor of love done by volunteers. Sponsors cover 100% of the expenses incurred by the Run. In addition, community-minded individuals, family foundations and corporations donate the Match Funds that increased the Fun Run grant money by 50% to each non profit organization. The Match Fund dollars are a very important part
of the success of the Fun Run. These match contributions give the incentive for the individual charities to encourage their respective donors to donate generously during the Fun Run to receive the additional dollars.
Next year marks the Fifth Annual Red Lodge Fun Run for Charities, with all kinds of entertaining activities planned for this milestone celebration. Please put the date of August 30, 2008 on your social calendar and plan to attend this wonderful community event for Billings and Red Lodge!
