Red Light Warriors will be running for “Red Means Stop.” A non-profit organization which was founded by three family members after losing loved ones due to red light runners. One of the founders happens to be a dear friend of ours, and thanks to his hard work and efforts March has become Red Light Awareness Month, and was introduced into law in 1998 as “Jennifer’s Law” HB 2327.
The Red Means Stop Coalition is the only known grassroots organization of its kind in the United States. Our long-term goal is to have the message about the dangers and consequences of red light running spread throughout the country until red light running is significantly reduced everywhere.
Each year in the United States, red light running results in nearly 200,000 crashes, more than 800 deaths and 180,000 injuries.
- One in 14 Arizona drivers were involved in a red light running crash.
- Four in five crashes occurred in urban areas.
- Four in five crashes happened with 150 feet of an intersection.
- You are more likely to be injured in a red light running related crash than any other type of crash. |
