| Hi everyone, thank you for visiting my webpage for the Rally Foundation. I will be running in the Disney Half Marathon on January 10th, 2009 in honor of Margaret, to raise money for a wonderful cause, childhood cancer research. Margaret is a Rally Kid. After being sick with what her family thought was a virus, Margaret was diagnosed October 9, 2007 with Leukemia. Her only symptoms were fever, neck and back pain. She was able to come home from the hospital just 5 days later, and now returns for Chemotherapy and tests once each week. We are blessed she has ALL, the type of Leukemia that is more easily treated and cured! So far, all of her test results are very encouraging and she is responding to her treatments.
Margaret loves animals, and has a cat named Callie, and a dog named Barky. She really loves horses and has missed riding these past weeks. She and her sister Haley also Irish Dance. We can't wait until her strength returns and she is able to resume the activities she loves. As some of you may know, I began to enjoy running just recently. It was just last January when I went out with 3 friends for a 2 mile run to chat and stuck around for 12 miles with them and said "hey this isn't so bad"! I still remember the days as a young pre-teen PE student hyperventilating into a brown paper bag trying to catch my breath as I ran the mandatory timed mile run (the Dr.s called it exercise induced asthma)... So when my husband and I celebrated our 10th Anniversary this past summer and talked about our future "goals" on my list was to complete a half marathon. When my brother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer in August I felt it was God nudging me to accept this challenge and I thought there was no better place to run this race and spend my 35th Birthday than Andrew's favorite place on earth- Disney!
I know with God's help, your encouragement and prayers I will be able to accept this challenge to run in the Disney Half Marathon on behalf of Margaret and all the other children with cancer who need our support.
I know almost all of us are touched in one way or another by cancer, a friend, a mom, a brother, an aunt, a grandfather etc... Please help us find a cure, especially for our children. |
