Tyler Hamel's Race for Research
Help us Fuel The Cure for NF.
Tyler and his friends from NF Camp this summer.
Tyler Hamel is a success story. Being diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 1 at birth, Tyler presented with numerous café-au-lait spots. However, Tyler continues to grow healthy and to have above average performance in school.

When Tyler was in 3rd grade, doctors had him undergo surgery to remove a neurofibroma (the size of a golf ball) from the back of his head. Tyler emerged from the surgery tumor-free and once again in good health.

Although Tyler has small neurofibromas, their growth has stagnated and Tyler leads a very active and healthy life. Tyler is 12 years old and a rising 7th grader at Bayard Middle School in Wilmington, Delaware. Tyler is an exceptional student, enrolled in advanced placement classes. He also likes to draw and paint in his spare time. Tyler also enjoys music, electronics, & swimming.

Tyler still faces the daily challenges of NF-the endless doctor’s visits, possibility of surgeries, the lack of coordination/organization, etc., yet he has been blessed to lead such an extraordinarily “normal” life with NF1. This is why we believe Tyler is a true NF hero.

Come join us for a "Tea for Tyler" and help raise funds for the Children's Tumor Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for NF.
