What is neurofibromatosis?
Neurofibromatosis (NF)is a set of genetic disorders that, in its most common form, affects one in every 3,000 births, and causes tumors to grow anywhere throughout the body. Half of all cases occur as a result of a spontaneous genetic mutation, with the child’s family having no genetic history of the disorder. NF affects both sexes, all races and ethnic groups equally. NF is more prevalent than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s disease combined.
There is currently no effective drug treatment for neurofibromatosis (NF). The Racing4Research program helps to change that by funding Drug Discovery Initiative(s). 100% of all donations go directly to discovering new and better treatments for NF and to find a cure. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
What is Racing4Research?
Racing4Research is a fund raising initiative between the Children’s Tumor Foundation and Farnbacher Loles, an established Grand-Am GT Series team. In 2009 the team fielded four Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars, one being the #85 CTF car, at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. This race is one of motorsports most prestigious racing events. Money raised through corporate sponsorship and individual pledges, both per lap and fixed amounts goes toward medical research and finding a cure for NF.
