| On the afternoon of December 7, 2009, Peter Dingeman passed away from complications due to neurofibromatosis (NF). Pete was a loving family man, friend, and philanthropist who dedicated much of his life to bettering others.
Earlier this year LENOX, the industrial tools manufacturer, took note of Pete’s dedicated service and commitment to the Children’s Tumor Foundation and nominated him as one of their 10 finalists for the LENOX Extra Mile Hero award. After a voting process Pete was named the Extra Mile Hero and was able to direct $31,000 to the Children’s Tumor Foundation to support NF research.
Pete faced and overcame many challenges due to NF throughout his life. He ran marathons, hosted benefit dinners, and organized medical symposiums to help raise money, awareness and to educate the public about NF. His spirit enlivened those around him who inevitably felt lucky to have met him and heard his story.
LENOX and its employees continue to show a commitment to Pete and the ideals he epitomized. Join us in remembering and honoring Pete and we’ll use your contribution to support the research that meant so much to Pete.
“I do it for the kids, they’re the reason I run, the reason I work so hard for NF research, so that their lives can be better.”
-Pete Dingeman
