| My name is Angella Morin Joslyn. My mother is Theresa Morin and my father is Ludger Morin Jr. I have two sisters Janel Swanson and Melanie Wehrwein. I am 37 years old, a wife, mother and a teacher. I have 4 children Bryant 13 Mackenzie, 10, Jace 4 and Peyton 2. My husband Clint A. Joslyn Jr. is the one who signed me up for this project. I am a runner and have run from 5ks all the way up to half marathons. I also like to mountain bike. I have my Master's degree in Special and Elementary Education. I went to Keene State College for my degree.
I was running the mountain series in 2009 to be entered into the Mt. Washington road race for 2010. I then was getting what I thought was leg strains or muscle pulls. I waited until I got through all the races and went to the doctors to see how to help fix my calves. I then went through many tests that day and for the next 6 weeks to find out I have stage 4, non-small cell lung cancer. I will have it the rest of my life. I am in remission now and hope to stay this way for a while. I went from peak performance to not walking and very much pain. I was determined to teach at the beginning of the school year. I did start the school year but had to walk with a walker and for long distances or for standing a lot I needed a wheel-chair. I have not had to call in sick and have had chemo every 3 weeks since I was diagnosed. I take half days to take the chemo and get tired quicker for a week afterwards but I get through my days and nap when I get home. My family has been a great support as my husband. My husband, Clint, helped me through my first 2 weeks of school, stayed in the hospital with me for the whole 6 weeks, gave me my medication at the right times, and has given me a shot to keep my blood from clotting since my diagnosis every morning. My mother and father took care of my children while I was away at the hospital and come over every day after work to juice for me. Clint's mom and my sister have also been a big help with our kids and with house work. I also had a benefit race put on by my friends and family. Race for Angella in October. Kristen Stroshine, Charlotte Small, Ted Magreer from 'Ted's Shoe and Sport', my family and many others made this possible and a fundraiser that raised more than expected by any others in this area.
Thank you so much for all that you have done for me. I am very excited to get to do this race. I hope to stay in remission so I can do this race in June. I'll walk it if I have to with a walker. :)
Adventure is my life!
