SOS Outreach was founded in 1993 in Colorado’s Vail Valley. Today, SOS operates in 8 states, Canada and New Zealand, serving 4,500 youth annually. As a non-profit organization, our mission is to inspire youth to make positive decisions for a successful life. The success of
SOS Outreach lies in the 5 core values that students discuss and interpret each program day; Courage, Discipline, Integrity, Wisdom and Compassion.
SOS Outreach offers single day, multi-day and year-round, multi-year programs. Activities include snowboarding, skiing, rock climbing, 7-day backpacking wilderness trips and one-day snowshoe experiences. Each activity is designed to foster a sense of social justice, cultivate life skills and demonstrate to students the importance of giving back to the community. Adult mentors, or sherpas, are crucial to the success of the multi-year programs, and provide each participant with a positive role model, and the necessary additional support and guidance for a successful experience.
