| This is Marco! He is asking for your help and wants you to get your running shoes on and run along with him and his Dad at the Perk Up Half Marathon! Marco has hemophilia. He and his Daddy will be running to help kids just like Marco in the hopes to one day find a cure for this disease. Here is a litte information on hemophilia:
Imagine a simple nosebleed that wont stop bleeding! Imagine a fall on the playground that requires a week long stay in the hospital! These are just some of the simple things that we take for granted when we are healthy and have healthy children.
Children with hemophilia are missing the factor in their blood that helps them to clot. They need to take intravenous medicine on a weekly and sometimes daily basis to help keep them healthy and free from bleeding.
Hemophilia can be a very difficult disease to manage and the financial impact it has on families is sometimes devasting. Hemophilia is the most expensive disease in the world to manage with monthly medicine costs as much as $30,000.
