| Hello Friends and Family!
Some of you may remember the last time I asked you to support the Harold Robinson Foundation. That endeavor included riding 100 miles from Watts to Ventura County on a Saturday in September 2010, and I'm pretty sure I'm just starting to regain feeling in my tush. That's the good news. The better news is that, this year, I don't have to ride 100 miles! Instead, I get to *spin* for 100 miles on a stationary bike along with scores of other riders on the Santa Monica Pier. It's going to be a blast!
On June 5th, 2011 we will be joining forces once again to raise funds for the Harold Robinson Foundation. This great organization combines two things about which I feel very strongly: children and summer camp. In essence, the fundraising efforts--my goal is $1,500--will send underprivileged inner-city kids to a local summer camp for a full weekend of team building, games, learning, and fun...free of charge. This is a life changing experience for these campers, and take my word for it, it can be a life changing experience for you as well.
I'm not sure who's happier in the below photograph: The camper who just caught his first fish EVER or me for being there to witness it!
I know the economy is tough and there are many people out there asking for donations to one cause or another. If you can't give anything at this time, I understand. If you can give something, it will be appreciated by more people than you know.
As a "spin" on this year's fundraising, I'm also opening up my bike to others if they are interested in joining my team. If you want to come on down to the Santa Monica Pier in early June and take turns churning our way through 100 miles, let me know...I could use some teammates and the kids could use your support! |
