| The mission of Operation Jump Start (OJS) is to provide structure and resources for disadvantaged youth to reach their full potential through a college education. Since its founding in 1994, OJS has operated a successful college-access program that includes five years of individual mentoring, educational case-management, developmentally-based educational workshops, college tours, social programs that provide a supportive network for college attendance, community service initiatives, diverse cultural exposure, social work interventions as needed, academic tutoring, a computer donation program, family education, leadership development activities and scholarships for higher education.
With your support, OJS can continue to assist the more than fifty students striving for a better future through participation in a program that provides an avenue to higher education. There have been ninety program graduates to date. Every graduate has received a high school diploma, 98% have gone on to college and since 2004, 81% of OJS graduates attending college have gone directly to a four-year college or university. |
