| Opportunity Enterprises, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote self-sufficiency and life choices for challenged individuals. Our vision is to provide a model for implementing innovative and quality services through responsible utilization of public and private resources.
Opportunity Enterprises began in 1967 as Vale Day School, which was started by a group of 10 parents wanting more for their disabled children. We have grown into our current 60,000 square foot building, with a staff of over 300 serving roughly 1,400 consumers annually. We are a non-profit organization with numerous sites, including our main Valparaiso, Indiana campus, group homes throughout Porter County, Indiana, and a Lake County, Indiana office.
Since 1967, Opportunity Enterprises has been a leader in the creation, development, and delivery of exciting programs and opportunities for challenged individuals of all ages. We live in a marvelously dynamic and rapidly changing world where innovation, research, and technology have broadened horizons and increased reality. Our goal, quite simply, is to change the world by changing the lives of the people we serve and their families.
We do this by: challenging the preconceived notions of what can be accomplished by any individual, demolishing the stereotype of the helpless disabled, working together with our clients and their families to maximize the potential of each individual, and forming partnerships and strategic alliances to extend our reach and impact into a broad spectrum of non-traditional community efforts, from affordable housing to transportation, from innovative therapies to senior care.
We welcome questions, and encourage tours of our facility. To find out more about the OE running program, or to register for the team, visit www.oerunners.org.
