|Hello to all my dear friends and family.
I am participating in a triathlon to support Crohn's and Colitis Foundation! I have been involved with this nonprofit for over 30 years because I’ve had Intestinal Bowel Disease since I was 19 years old! That is one year older than my daughter! Craziness!
This is a huge goal for me both physically and financially, but I am going to dedicate myself to the fundraising aspect vigorously so I will be able to attend. I’ve started the training on my own and am now running up to two miles! Understand when I tell you I have NEVER been an athlete, but already I can say, "I run! I like how it makes me feel!" My joints or abdomen always hurt too much in the past, but with this amazing new class of medication I am currently receiving intravenously, I am pain free and feeling far stronger than I have in years!
I can finally dedicate myself to my health and to helping others increase their quality of life. Any dollars you send are collected for patient trials and research toward a cure. It is not far off! The scientific and medical communities have already narrowed the cures to Genetic Markers. This is such an important step because it will help everyone with an auto-immune dysfunction in their lives! Maybe you know others who have such diseases as Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, MS, Lupus or many others.
Please help me to reach my goal of $4,400. Eighty-two cents on each dollar goes toward development, research, medical trials, Camp Oasis for severely auto-immune challenged children, and support groups all over the nation.
The remainder helps the good people who offer hours upon hours of their time making these vital fundraisers successful for Crohn’s and Colitis patients, including their own friends and families. They do this by carefully devising a 16 week coaching schedule that includes running, swimming, and biking endurance and safety assistance. They are teaching me how to protect my joints and build stamina safely so I can excel in small, safe steps! Having coaches for encouragement and care is new to me. You can probably see how it is a good fit for me .
Though I am still a bit nervous, I believe I can reach my physical goal. I need your help so I can participate in the final event this September 9th in San Diego.
Thank you for choosing to support a cause that has been near and dear for my entire adult life! I am proud to inform you that the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation is one of the top five nonprofits in the country because of their integrity, honesty, and excellent utilization of funding. This gives me a wonderful feeling when asking each of you to contribute to this cause and my fundraising and health-building efforts!
Please contribute on this secure web site for your convenience. Or, alternately, please send a check or money order to 8506 382nd Ave SE; Snoqualmie, WA. 98065.
Okay. Enough already! If you know me well, you know that being succinct with my words is NOT one of my strengths. So I thank you so very much for slogging through this important letter in its entirety! I would like to say one more thing. Thank you for your beautiful friendship on this fine journey I am on, and for the support I have received and will continue to need along my path.
