Cystic Fibrosis is a life threatening genetic disease, which affects the respiratory, and digestive systems of over 30,000 children. One child especially important to us is our niece Haley. Haley was born with CF and deals with its’ challenges on a daily basis. As a family, we have all developed an increased awareness of CF and the tremendous research that is underway to find a cure. It is this awareness that has inspired us to want to do something to help Haley and other children with CF.
One thing that has stood out to us is that those who suffer with CF our individuals of great faith and perseverance. Haley, despite her challenges is outgoing, loving and one of the most enthusiastic lovers of life that we know. One of the reasons why Haley remains so upbeat is because she believes, as we do, that a cure for CF can be found. It is for this reason that we have devoted our time and energy to putting together the Northern Columbia Triathlon fundraiser for CF research to be held on Sunday, August 13, 2006. The event involves a 1/4-mile swim in Queechy Lake followed by a 19.5-mile bike ride to Ghent, ending after a 4.5 mile run in to the Kinderhook Village Square.
We have always found athletic events to be great environments where participants and supporters come together for a day of competition and goodwill. It is our hope that this will happen at our event and at the same time needed funds will be raised to benefit CF research.
Please join us in this fight by sponsoring someone to participate in the race, or by making a donation. Your interest, support and encouragement are appreciated. |
