Welcome!
I am back at it again this year--raising money for Neurofibromatosis! This year I hope to have a jam packed racing season with the ultimate goal of finishing the Twin Cities Marathon in October. I will be teaming up with the NF Endurance team this time around am excited to get out there!
For those of you who are just meeting up with my mission- I am raising money to fight NF for my grandmother and uncle who both died from complications due to the disorder. NF is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on the nerves in the body and is one of the most common genetic disorders in the United States. Unfortunately, sometimes the tumors cause cancer and this is what took the life of my Uncle David before I got the chance to really know him. My grandmother, Rachel Sterne, got tired of fighting the tumors and went to be with David when I was in the 5th grade. I wish I had had many more years with her and cherish all of the memories that she gave me when I was younger.
I think of my grandmother when I run. Whenever I struggle through a mile, I think of her struggle with NF and I keep going. I am her namesake and I run to keep her memory alive.
You can read more details about our story here: http://rosecoloredcrookedtoes.blogspot.com/2009/06/run-for-those-who-cant.html
By donating to my cause, you will be helping the doctors find a cure for NF. My only hope is that we find a cure so that other families are saved from the loss that my family went through.
By sponsoring my run, you will be helping families who are currently dealing with Neurofibromatosis as well as helping to find a cure. The Children's Tumor Foundation has made wonderful progress in recent years and your donation can help save lives!
I highly suggest watching the video below on this page. You can also find more information on NF and how your money will be used at www.ctf.org
