Leo Ogle will participate in the Mayor's Midnight Sun Youth Cup as part of his plan to improve his quality of life through funding research.
My name is Leo. I'm in the fifth grade. I like to walk on the beach and help my mom find heart-shaped rocks. I play soccer in the summers and build happy snowmen in winters. When I eat kettle corn popcorn, I search for the extra sugary pieces. I have neurofibromatosis. It has caused tumors to grow along my spine, and on my hip and leg. These are the gnarly type of tumors called plexiform neurofibromas. I wish I didn't know so much about tumors.
Right now doctors are testing drugs that may be able to hamper the growth of plexiform neurofibromas. I want to help fund that research. I hope you join my cause. One day I would like to say that I play soccer, walk on the beach, and that I USED to have tumors on my spine and hip.
