| Drew's Crew - RAAM 2009 |
|
| Drew's Crew, part of the NF (Neurofibromatosis) Endurance Team, is an ultra-endurance bicycle relay team named for Drew Budlong, who suffers from neurofibromatosis. The members of the four person relay team are Alan Sterner (Sterner Insurance), Tony Colasurdo (Coopersburg Family Chiropractic), Anthony Gallo ( Gallo Family Chiropractic), Rich Keith (Dunlop Group Insurance). This June, Drew's Crew will be participating in the 2009 Race Across America or RAAM , an annual organized race in which riders sprint from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean in 9 days or less. Our purpose for this race is to raise money for research to find effective treatments and a curefor NF.
NF is a genetic disorder that can cause tumors anywhere in the body. NF can also contribute to learning disabilities, behavior problems, deafness, blindness, cancer, and even death.
Drew Budlong, is a 10 year old who was first diagnosed with NF when he was 13 months old. His life up until this point has been filled with doctors visits plus physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Drew is an amazing child who has to work long and hard to do things that to most children his age come easily. Drew has tumors presently, one of which, will need to be removed in the near future.
Drew along with nearly 2 million people worldwide suffer from neurofibromatosis and there is no cure. Drew's Crew is participating in the Race Across America with the NF Endurance Team, to raise money and awareness for research to find effective treatments and a cure for this devastating disorder.
Your generous donation, by way of mileage sponsorship, will help children like Drew who live with the effects of NF everyday. Our GOAL is to partner with enough companies and individuals to raise $100 for every mile we ride. Together, Drew's Crew and its sponsors can make a difference towards the ultimate finish line of finding a cure for neurofibromatosis.. |
