Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a debilitating genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow randomly throughout the body on the nerve sheaths. NF occurs in more than one in 3,000 births – more than Cystic Fibrosis, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and Huntington’s Disease combined.

Fortunately, there now is a way you can help alleviate the suffering…simply by running or walking in a marathon to help raise money for NF research and services. Here’s how it works: Once you have registered on our website for a 2010 Flying Pig Event, you can then create a personal fundraising web page. Then you ask for donations from family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, etc. Don’t worry! It’s not as difficult as you think. In fact, we’ll give you the tools you’ll need to raise the money.

Through this site, you have the option of fundraising individually or starting or joining a team. The NF Endurance Team is committed to raising funds and awareness so one day there will be a cure for NF! Help us get there. Mile by mile, step by step, you’ll be enabling the life-saving mission on the Children’s Tumor Foundation, while meeting new friends and experiencing something you’ll never forget. Every day I hope that a scientific breakthrough will occur and a treatment or a cure will be found before she develops more serious manifestations of this disease. The clock is ticking for Natalie and so many other children. Scientists are working hard on NF. They are understanding this complicated disease better and better on a molecular level, but their research takes funding.
