Hello, Friends and Family! You're here visiting our website, so you must be a superhero too!
Thank you for your support as we raise money for the Children's Tumor Foundation. CTF is working hard to find a cure for Neurofibromatosis, which in kid-terms is the "Evil Bad Guy" we're up against, but more specifically is a set of genetic disorders that cause tumors to grow along the nerves in the body. NF afflicts 1 in 3,000 people and can cause a multitude of debilitating conditions including blindness, deafness, learning disabilities and disfigurement.
Our son Gryff was diagnosed with NF1 when he was 2 years old. We recently told Gryff about his NF. Not only has he been brave with the news, he is excited to do something to beat it! Since THERE IS NO CURE FOR NF, the three of us are using our special powers to raise money and awareness to rid the universe of the dreaded NF.
Enter Gryff's Super Mutant Team of three. We have donned our finest superhero sneakers and are headed for the January 2010 Disney "UP / And Away" 5K to run with the NF Endurance Team. If Gryff has his way, we'll be wearing some snazzy capes as well; although we sidekicks are hoping for a vote on this particular fashion choice :)
We will be chasing the NF "Evil Bad Guy" for a total of 15 kilometers (3 heroes x 5K). Please help us meet...or even beat...our fundraising goal of $1500!
Your tax-deductible donation will help support the scientific research CTF is doing to solve the NF puzzle. And all of the money goes to CTF’s science and research programs, which have made some astonishing breakthroughs. We deeply appreciate your sponsorship for this very personal, very heroic cause!
P.S. After thinking about the similarity between NF and the X-Men's mutant powers, Gryff declared that his Mutant Power is IMAGINATION. Pretty cool!
Thanks VERY much to all who have donated so far! |
