| Bill & Martha Avery's 1/2 Marathon for NF |
|
| As many of you know, but some may not, my wife Martha has been running marathons to raise money for NF research. Our daughter, Molly, who is now 14, was diagnosed with NF1, a genetic neurological disorder, when she was just 6 months old. Despite the challenges this disease presents Molly, she keeps pushing herself to do better. Therefore, I am pushing myself and joining my wife in MY FIRST 1/2 MARATHON!! Martha and I will be running together to raise funds to further research and awareness of this disease. For those of you unfamiliar with NF, it can either be handed down genetically or, as in Molly's case, the result of a spontaneous gene mutation. It affects 1 in 3000 people. People with NF1 are likely to develop painful tumors on nerves anywhere in or on their bodies. It can lead to a loss of hearing or sight, disfigurement, loss of a limb, skeletal defects or certain forms of cancer. It is also linked to learning disabilities. NF can change or advance at any stage in life, often doing so rapidly. We are fortunate that Molly only has some complications, primarily motor skills and LD issues. I know that times are hard and it is hard to raise money for causes such as this, but I am committed to raising $7500 for NF research. Any support, in any amount, would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!! |

Below is a video from the Children’s
Tumor Foundation that demonstrates how your support benefits nearly
2 million people worldwide that are affected by Neurofibromatosis. I
hope you’ll please take a few minutes to watch the video and perhaps
be as motivated as we are to support The Children’s Tumor
Foundation.
