| Hi all,
I want to start out by saying THANK YOU to all of you who have sponsored my marathon efforts in the past by donating money to help find a cure for the genetic disorder, Neurofibromatosis (NF).
You've probably guessed it--I will be running yet again this year for the NF Endurance Team and the Children's Tumor Foundation. There will be a few changes this year to mix things up. My cousin, Stephanie, will be joining me! We will be known at "Team Highlighters" as we sport our bright yellow gear in support of NF! We will be running a variety of races with our ultimate goal set at the Rock N Roll Chicago Half Marathon on Aug. 1.
I will only be running half marathons and shorter races as I prepare myself to student teach in the fall. You can read more about these decisions and my journey at my blog: A Rachel on the Run
For those of you who are unfamiliar with my cause--Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow along the nerves in the body. This can cause a variety of difficulties such as learning disabilities, physical deformities, brain tumors, and even cancer. Unfortunately, Stephanie and I lost two very important people due to this disorder--our grandmother (Rachel Sterne) and uncle (David Sterne). You can read more about their stories here: Rachel and David's Story
The research for NF has come along way in the last few years. You can read more about the progress they have made by visiting the Children's Tumor Foundation's website, www.ctf.org. With your help, we can find a cure!
This year, Stephanie and I are teaming up for some exciting fundraising efforts. Anyone who sponsors $10 towards our run will receive a free lunch ticket to our fundraiser event "Party in the Park". Each $10 will get you a lunch ticket ($6 for children under 12).
We will also be hosting a scavenger hunt during the event that will include a meal ticket. $12 adults, $6 children. Regisration for the scavenger hunt can be found here: Scavenger Hunt Registration
Thank you so much for all of your support--we really appreciate it! |
