Two Degrees of Difference
Because We Are Never More Than 2 Degrees Of Separation From Cancer
Hannah McNeal, the 2008 LLS Washington National Chapter Girl of the Year, is in remission from Leukemia. Hannah captured my heart and serves as a special reminder of how critical it is that we rid the world of devastating cancers.
I am so humbled and blessed to have been nominated as a candidate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year campaign. This is my opportunity to truly honor and help the millions of people who are in the fight of their lives. My mission is to raise as much money as I conceivably can to put an end to cancer.

But I can’t do it alone. I assembled a group of more than 30 very special people who, like me, are committed to finding a cure.

Our team is called TWO DEGREES OF DIFFERENCE. We believe that, sadly, everyone is just two degrees of separation from someone who has been affected by cancer. We’re also just two degrees from someone who can make a difference in the fight against cancer.

I’m told that, when it comes to charity, there’s no shame in asking for money, and when I see what happens when people rally together and contribute, I see why. People's lives change. There's hope. There are steps closer to a cure. Big things happen when small efforts are made all at once. I've seen it happen.

I believe we all have the opportunity, indeed the responsibility, to help those in need, people who we might not ever meet or come to know. The diseases of leukemia and lymphoma – all cancers for that matter – give us a unique opportunity to reach outside ourselves, often just within two degrees, to make a difference.
This fundraising event is now complete. Thank you for your support.
