Thanks for stopping by my donation pageto support me in this cause!
This summer I'm planning to run a half marathon- yep, you read that right, I’m running 13.1 miles! I'm over 10 miles in training now and it’s certainly been a challenge. I’ve put in a lot of hard work and dedication- but I have a great reason to do it! I'm running with Team Challenge to help raise funds and awareness for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). This organization's mission is to find cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
Before joining Team Challenge, I didn't know much about these painful digestive diseases. Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both major forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), where the immune system attacks the digestive system, often leading to debilitating pain, intestinal bleeding, dehydration, weight loss and the inability to lead a functioning life. We do not yet know the cause and, despite the development of promising new medications, we still have no cure for these diseases. IBD affects an estimated 1.4 million women and men in America and can strike at any age.

In support of this cause, I've set my sights on reaching one of the highest recognized fundraising goals of this summer's Team Challenge Brooklyn half marathons: $4,500!! I know it's a big number, but I'm confident that with your support I can reach it!! Any donation you can make toward my goal would be greatly appreciated. You can make credit card donations through this secure page (see contribution box above) or contact me to pay by check or cash.
100% of your donation will go to the CCFA and more than 80 cents of every dollar will directly fund research, educational programs and support services- pretty awesome, huh? This organization is Top-Rated by the American Institute of Philanthropy.
All donations are tax deductible and you can contact me about obtaining a receipt for your donation (all donations of $250 or more will automatically receive a receipt directly from the organization). If your company participates in a matching gifts program, please let me know! I understand that not all of you can donate, but any support would be amazing and extremely appreciated- just spreading the word and sharing this page is a huge help! Your donation will help fund critical research for improving treatment and finding a cure for IBD, as well as support programs for those whose lives are affected by these diseases every day.
Thank you for joining me in this fight against IBD!

About Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both major categories of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). IBD affects an estimated 1.4 million Americans. These chronic diseases tend to run in families and they affect males and females equally.
Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus.
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine.
Since our founding over four decades ago, CCFA has remained at the forefront of research in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Today, we fund cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, nurture investigators at the early stages of their careers, and finance underdeveloped areas of research. In addition, our educational workshops and programs, along with our scientific journal, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical professionals to keep pace with this rapidly growing field.
