We are all-too familiar with how these diseases impact lives. Alyssa suffers from Crohn's and knows firsthand how it can affect and control every aspect of one's life. Three of our parents have Crohn's or colitis and we have watched them go through harrowing experiences over the past 20 years. Through participating in the past five seasons of Team Challenge, we have met so many wonderful and inspirational people who have suffered the life-altering effects of these diseases. We are committed to raising as much as we possibly can to fund crucial research. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, debilitating illnesses in which the immune system attacks the digestive system - causing inflammation, bleeding, ulcerations, weight loss due to inability to absorb vital nutrients, fistulas, narrowing of the intestines, and, among many other symptoms, the inability to lead a functioning life. We DO NOT KNOW what causes these diseases, but with money raised, CCFA can fund vital research to uncover the cause, develop new drugs and treatments for people who are suffering, and discover a CURE!
