Hey friends, most of you know by now I have Crohn's disease. It hasn't been easy, but with great research and medication I have lived a very active life. This summer I will be running a half marathon to raise money for the Crohn's and Colitis foundation. If it wasn't for organizations like this, I wouldn't be able to run down the street let alone finish a marathon!
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are known together as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Crohn’s disease is a painful, medically incurable illness that attacks the digestive system. Although Crohn's disease most commonly affects the end of the small intestine and the beginning of the large intestine, it may involve any part of the GI tract. The cause of IBD remains unknown, however studies indicate it is linked to the genes a person inherits. The effectiveness of recently developed methods and steady advances in research brings us closer every day to finding the cause and probably cure of Crohn’s disease an ulcerative colitis.
I'm asking you to do what you can!
This is why I need YOUR help - so I can do this for MYSELF and the 1.4 million other Americans which have been affected by this disease.
If you can, I'd be very grateful if you could make a donation to support my participation. It doesn't matter how much - every little bit helps! To thank you for your generosity, I have decided to wear each of your names on my jersey the day of the race. I could not do this without your support.
Thanks in advance! Kyla |
