Half Marathon Training Program

two friends, one goal

What's Mo up to now?

One of my life goals is to run a marathon. Nope. I'm not doing that...yet. But I am training for the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country half marathon in July. 13.1 freaking miles!

And I'll be running with the Team Challenge program to benefit the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). My friend, Amy, is my honorary teammate through this incredible journey.

Of course, I'll be blogging all along the way at my blog Being Mom2Amara.

So what does this have to do with you?

I need your help in making two goals come true. I need your support in training for my first half marathon. Your cheerleading can help push me towards the finish line. And your financial support can help me help CCFA find a cure for Crohn's and Colitis.

Why CCFA?

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, medically incurable illnesses that attack the digestive system. Over 1.4 million Americans are affected, including my friend Amy.

Amy's a mom just like me. She is a good wife. She adores her two children and does whatever she can to provide a wonderful home and loving life for her boys. Amy works full time but can still find time for her family and friends. And she loves to party at girls night.

More than 80 cents of every dollar donated goes towards research and education. I want to raise the money for CCFA so Amy and others like her can continue to live a healthier lifestyle. I couldn't pass up an opportunity to help someone who has helped me and my family so much. I treasure her friendship that much! Now maybe she'll even hit the trails with me once in awhile!

Motivated. Committed. I will do this for me and for Amy.

I hope you will consider making a donation. Every dollar counts. No amount is too small! Your contribution is tax deductible. And if your company matches charitable contributions, please consider filling out a matching form with your donation.

Remember, I can't do it alone. So keep checking for updates here and on my blog!

month one update

At the beginning of this journey, I could barely run half a mile. Now, I can run for nearly an hour. I'm slow. But I can do it. I keep thinking that I've come so far. Yet I have so much more to accomplish. I'm blessed to have the support and donations I have already received. Keep the encouragement coming!

month two update

I'm up just about running 5 miles! And the weekend of 4/25, I'm running my first 5K of the season, benefitting another charity! It's amazing how many great people have stepped up and offered to host a party or donate their services all for CCFA research. I am so blessed! But the half marathon is now less than three months away...it's becoming very real!

month three (or is it four?) update

I'm half way there running! And I'm half way there on fundraising. It's hard to believe the half marathon is now two months away! But I'm still committed to it, even though life has thrown some curve balls our way. Drop me a line and wish me some luck!!

update: just a few more weeks to go

It's hard to believe that the run is just 19 days away! And I know I could not have gone through all the preparation and training without all of you and your support! I've made some wonderful friends. And I know that all my hard work is going to a good cause! I've done a few 2 hour runs lately. My legs kill and I'm painfully slow. But I'm doing it and I'm confident I'm going to finish the 13.1 miles!
