| Dear family and friends, I have recently taken on a new challenge. I plan to complete the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon on July 19th, 2009. I am running this 13.1 mile race to raise a minimum of $5,000 for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are known together as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It is estimated that 1.4 million Americans have IBD, however many more suffer in silence. It most often affects people between the ages of 15 and 40. Since I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 1994, I have met dozens of children and adults who also suffer from this disease. Thankfully, I've responded well to the medical attention I am receiving. I've recovered to a point where I have a more normal quality of life. Because I am now able, I would like to do what I can to help others who suffer as well as help find a cure. I hope my efforts make a difference in fighting a disease that affects so many. Please consider supporting me in this half marathon. A minimum of 83 cents per dollar raised by CCFA goes directly to research and patient support, and your contribution is 100% tax deductible. Whatever donation you can make is greatly appreciated. You may write a check payable to CCFA (mail to me), pay by cash or you can make a secure online credit card donation to my web page.
