| I am running for Bridget Manning, the New England Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation’s Honoree. In 2006 Bridget was diagnosed with Crohn’s. She was tired with frequent bouts of illness and losing weight over the course of the summer. Bridget met with Dr. Grand in late August and was scheduled for a colonoscopy, which proved that she had Crohn’s. Over the course of the next year, she was hospitalized six more times as she and her doctor tried to find the right medications to manage this disease. She is now taking a new medication, and enjoying life to the fullest.
Bridget has an amazing spirit and joie de vivre in the face of this illness. Her openness about what she has faced and what she might face in the future inspires me to focus on my own challenge, running the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon in under two hours and raising money to find a cure for Bridget and others like her as part of Team Challenge.
Team Challenge is the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s new endurance training program. I will train for 16 weeks to run 13.1 miles in this half marathon and improve upon my previous half marathon success. Please join me by sponsoring me in this marathon to raise funds to find a cure for ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. It is my goal to raise $5000 for Team Challenge.
Currently, I can run 6 miles in about an hour, but in July I am determined to run across the finish line after 13.1 miles. If I can summon the drive and energy to accomplish this task to find a cure for Crohn’s disease, then I ask you to help me so that Bridget and millions like her can have hope for a cure.
Thank you for your support!!!
